(Noun) plural freebooters
"One who goes about in search of plunder; esp. a pirate or piratical adventurer". (OED)
  1. An adventurer or plunderer: someone who takes spoils, pillages or plunders or wages ad-hoc war on other nations.
  2. Informal a person, esp an itinerant, who seeks pleasure, wealth, booty etc., without responsibility.
  3. Eymology; The word Freebooter is a calque that first came into use in 1570 by folk etymology from Dutch vrijbuiter, from vrijbuit plunder, from vrij free + buit booty.
